Are you a fan of New Year’s Resolutions?
The new year is a nice time to think about those things we want to improve on in life — losing weight, being a “nicer” person, de-cluttering, etc. While it can be onerous to sit down and decide what we want that resolution to be (or if we want one at all), it is nice to have one nonetheless.
I have spent some time reflecting on mine, and when got asked the question today while having lunch with my co-workers, I truly feel these are things I hope to achieve in 2017:
- Live more in the moment. As a new mama, I want to do this for my son more than anything else. I want to stop thinking of the next thing on my “to do list” and enjoy the here and now.
- Stop stressing about the small stuff. It is so easy to get stressed out over anything an everything if we allow ourselves to… my goal is to try letting go of this… even if I have to take baby steps to get there.
- Learn to say “No” and feel okay about it! *** getting personal here*** – I struggle to say “No”. Whether at work, to my family, to my friends — my goal is to ask myself what I truly want, and if doing something that is asked of me is not in line with this, then I want to be able to say “No” without feeling guilty, and without an explanation.
Lastly, I want to be able to forgive myself for those moments when my life doe not allow me to fulfill these resolutions. They will probable take me my entire life to achieve — but I gotta start somewhere.
Tip* Try making a resolution. Write it down. Look at it once a week and reflect on it. Did you achieve it? Yes – then good on yah. No – try harder next week. Working towards something (goal-setting) is great for the soul!
Happy resolution setting!!
